Office Bearers Installed -
16thJune 2002
- New office Bearers for Lions, Lioness and Leo clubs of Trivandrum Towers for
the lionistic year 2002-2003 were
installed. Charter members were honored and
presented with mementos. Chief Guest PDG Ln. N. Ahmed Pillai MJF handed over (a)
two scholarships worth Rs. 1000/- each sponsored by Ln. G. Hariharan MJF, to
brilliant students of the locality, Rajee Rajan of 10th standard
Anayara and Saju Mohanan, Electronics 7th Semester, Govt. College of
Engineering, (b) Rs. 3500/- worth of uniforms for 50 poor students, sponsored by
Ln. K.P. Aravindakshan to PTA Devayani Memorial Govt. UPS, Anayara and (3) a
gift of Rs. 1000/- sponsored by lioness club to region director Lns. Saroja
Hariharan for the Amboori landslide victim?s Housing Project.

2002 - Our immediate past office
bearers were given District Governor?s and Lioness Board President?s awards at
an impressive ceremony conducted at Rama Varma Club, Cochin.
First
Family Meet -
26thJuly
2002 ? The first family meet was
jointly sponsored by Lions and Lioness PST. The 2002-2003 Lioness fund raising
campaign was launched by Lns. Dr. Prof. Syamalakumari with participation from 20
lions and Lionesses for the Rs.100/-monthly chitty.
Assistance to Orphanage -
28thJuly 2002 - We visited Ashraya Orphanage at Pullannimukku, Venganoor. Our Lioness
Club distributed sweets, carried out a
medical check up and gave free medicines for the 50 inmates. Lions Club
gave two bags of rice to the orphanage.
District
Governor?s Visit - 18thAugust 2002
- 27 Lionesses joined Lions and Leos for arranging the Thalapoli for the
District Governor and the First Lady of the District, on 18th August,
6:30pm at Freemason?s hall, Vazhuthacaud. A Lucky dip was conducted by lionesses
as part of their fund raising effort for the Lioness Board President?s community
marriage project. Our contribution of Rs 2000/- was handed over to Region
Director Lns. Saroja Hariharan.
Onam Celebrated - 8thSeptember
2002 - Onam was celebrated at
Travancore Heritage, Chowara.
Atthapookkalam, American auction and musical chair
were the main Lioness activities.
First Zone
Conference - 29thSeptember 2002
? 12 lions & 8 Lionesses attended the first zone conference of District 324 E1,
Region 11, Zone 111 held at Emabi Durbar Hall, Chirayankeezhu.
Gandhi Jayanthi Celebrated -
2ndOctober
2002 ? Lions, Lionesses and Leos of
Trivandrum
Towers joined to celebrate Gandhi Jayanthi at 8 am with the Chayakudi
Residents? Association in cleaning up the Chayakudi road and all it?s by lanes.
It was also an occasion to interact with the general public & residents of the
locality to promote lionistic ideals.
World
Service Day Observance -
8thOctober 2002
- World Service Day was aptly observed by Lionesses joining Lions and Leos of
Trivandrum Towers by assembling at RCC blood bank around 2 pm along with a group
of 9 youngsters who donated their blood for the needy.
Mega Medical Camp
- 22ndOctober 2002
? Lions, Lionesses and Leos jointly sponsored a mega medical camp in the
afternoon of 22ndOctober 2002 at Government
Regional Fisheries Technical & Vocational Higher Secondary School,
Valiathura for the benefit of over
250 students, parents and staff. Highlights of the camp are listed below.

Nations Day -
24thOctober
2002 ? Six Lionesses joined their
counter part Lions & Leos of Trivandrum Towers that enabled them to bag the
award for maximum participation in region I, II & III UN day celebrations at
National Club, Trivandrum.
Children?s Day Celebrated - 14thNovember 2002

Lionesses of Trivandrum Towers jointly with Lions and Leos assembled at Pettah
Vanitha Club Nursery
School at 9:00am to participate in the children?s day
celebrations. Region Chairman Ln. G. Hariharan MJF presided, Vanitha Club
President Prof. Umadevi inaugurated and Corporation Councilor Mallika, Lioness
Dr. Padmavathy and Lioness. Dr. Prof. Syamalakumari felicitated. Toys for the
Nursery school and snacks for the children and their parents were offered by
Lioness and Lions Club of Trivandrum Towers respectively.
Environment
Awareness Seminar- 30thDecember
2002 -
Trivandrum Towers
organized an environmental
awareness program for the 250 students and staff of Regional Fisheries
Technical and Higher Secondary School, Valiathura.
The President Lion Adv. R. Sugathan and PTA staff member Mr. Thomas discussed
the sources of environmental pollution in air, noise, water and land. They also
cleared doubts of the students in the discussion at the end of the session.
Eye screening &
Treatment Camp - 5thJanuary 2003
- The camp was conducted at Azhoor Government School for the benefit of the
school students, the general public and the poor coir workers community of
surrounding areas on the. A team of doctors and paramedical staff from Regional
Institute of Ophthalmology headed by the Institute Director Dr. Susheela B. Nair
screened over 350 patients and provided treatment and free medication to
majority of the patients. 16 patients were transported to and back from the
hospital on the 7th along with panchayat officials. Arrangements were
made for 9 of them for cataract surgery on 9th and transport back.
Melvin
Jones Day Celebration -
13thJanuary 2003
- District Chairman LCIF, Chairmen Regions I, II & III, Presidents and members
of all the clubs of the regions celebrated Melvin Jones Day and presented
excellence awards to prominent citizens at 7.00 pm during a colourful ceremony
at Residency Towers. The Chief Guest of the day was Sri Vakkom Purushothaman,
Honourable Speaker of Kerala Legislative Assembly. Apart from the active
contribution in conducting the ceremonies, Trivandrum Towers made their largest
participation by 33 of their Lions & lionesses.
Condolence Resolutions -
17thJanuary
2003 - Resolutions were passed
unanimously by the general body expressing. heartfelt condolences to Lion A.K.
Shanavas & Lion P. Jayasenan on death of family members.
Vice District
Governor?s Visit - 26thJanuary 2003
- Lion Sabu Karikasserry VDG and his
gracious Lady Lioness Molly Sabu charmed the Republic day celebrations of
Trivandrum Towers and Murukkumpuzha with their official visit to these clubs.
New member Lion G. Sreenivasan, his spouse Lioness Dr. K. Jyothi Kamalam and
children Kiran Sreenivasan, Prakash Sreenivasan and Leo Prasanth Sreenivasan
have joined the Trivandrum Towers pride.
Region Public Relation Seminar - 29th January 2003
- A very informative public relation seminar was organized for regions I & ll by
region public relation officers Lion Dr. K. Marthandan and Ln. P.S. Jayachandran
at National Club at 7pm attended by principal officers of Trivandrum Towers.
Pooram
Lions Sangamam 2003 -
18thFebruary 2003
- Lions Sangamam this year was hosted by District 324E2 at Merlin International,
Trichur. A total of 8 Lions and Lionesses from Trivandrum Towers participated in
the function to corner the maximum contest points. A galaxy of Past District
Governors was present and the International First Vice President Lion Dr. Tae
Sup Lee and Ms. Haing-Ja Lee were the Chief Guest. The participants were greeted
in the Pooram tradition of dressed up baby elephant with panchavadyam and the
function culminated with fire works display.

Jayachandran and Lion M. S. Ravi were recipients of Outstanding Lions Award from
District Governor at the same function.

Mary,
Leo Secretary Sajith Hari, Leo Manju Kunjumon and Leo District Council
President Aravind Mohan along with several other Leos of various clubs of the
district and guide Lion A.H.K. Naushad, Secretary, Lions Club of
Thiruvanandapuram City, participated in the Multiple District Leo Fest ?Frenzy
2003? at Chennai representing Leo District 324E1.
Honoring
the new Couples -
8thMarch 2003 - Family meet was the day to honor our newly married couples. The
function was jointly hosted by Lion M.S. Ravi, director and
Trivandrum Towers at C.Kesavan Memorial Hall near
Kerala Kaumudi Buildings.
Lioness Club of Trivandrum Towers celebrated International Women?s Day on 8thMarch
2003 by gifting Ayurvedic Geriatric Care medicines to Old Age Home at Chackai
Road Safety Seminar ? 16thMarch
2003
- A road safety seminar was organized
at Vishag sponsored by Lions Club of Trivandrum Towers and Kaumudi Residents?
Association. The discussions were inaugurated by Region Chairman Lion G.
Hariharan MJF. The specialist guests who are also the main consultants to the
state government on all matters of Road Building availed the opportunity
to collect view points of the forum.
Third Zone Conference - 26thMarch
2003 ?
Third Zone Conference of District 324 E1, Region
II, Zone III was conducted at priyadarshini Hall, Murukkumpuzha. Many Lions and
their families participated including a majority of members from Trivandrum
Towers, Murukkumpuzha and Chirayinkeezhu
camp was conducted at Al-Arif
hospital, Ambalathara jointly by Lions & Lionesses at 9:00am. More
awareness campaign
on reproductive health care and legal awareness among the poor working class
community at Vedivechankoil in the afternoon. The lively discussions at end of
the session were proof of the success of the campaign.
Trivandrum Towers participated in Lioness Board
President?s mega project community marriage at Muvatupuzha.
